We are with Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
The Giulietta, that is the compact hatchback model of Alfa Romeo, which reflects the sportive character of Italians in its design,
tries to make its presence felt in the class that the German brands are dominant.
Let’s see how much the Giulietta satisfies the expectations.
Let’s analyze it together…
At first glance the legendary upside down triangle shaped grill of the Alfa Romeo ensures to separate the Giulietta from its rivals.
The daylights with LED and the lines progressing on the bonnet bring the car dynamism.
The door handles of the rear doors that are concealed in the C column have a share in the perception of Giulietta as a coupe.
The horizontally formed taillights play a determinative role to make the rear of the car particular.
The interior of the Giulietta just as its exterior is quite different than its rivals in this class.
Alfa Romeo’s famous; dial indicators that consist of double loop and looks downward has been used in the Giulietta too.
The round A/C controls and metallic gear *** emphasize the sportive look.
The quality of the materials utilized in the cockpit is generally fine.
To reach and to use the touchscreen multimedia system is easy.
The only bother here is having not many places for your small items.
The living quarters offered in front and the knee room in the rear is quite good.
The headroom despite descending roof is still sufficient.
The 350-liter boot capacity is not bad but it is behind its rivals.
Let’s come to the engine and driving features of the Giulietta.
In the car that I am driving 1.6-liter diesel engine is functioning.
It develops 105 HP and 320 Nm of torque and can only be purchased with 6-speed manual gearbox.
The power of the engine at mid rpm is fine.
But if you drop under 1500 rpm than lifelessness is felt and you definitely have to switch to one gear lower.
The engine does not definitely act delicately on the subject of reaching high speeds as well.
You get the performance you expect from this car.
The newly developed steering system with its sensitive and soft structure can be used easily.
The suspensions have settings to reinforce the comfort and sportive driving features.
In the Giulietta, driving modes that the Alfa Romeo called DNA is offered as standard.
The mode D means Dynamic, N means Normal, A means ‘All Weather’ that is to say, it can be used in every weather conditions.
You can choose any one of the 3 modes by the little button that looks like a switch situated in front of the gear ***.
In the Normal mode the system works with optimum settings.
When you choose the Dynamic mode it appears as if you have intervened to the car’s DNA.
The throttle reactions accelerate; the steering becomes firmer and sharper.
Furthermore the electronic differential lock Q2 also steps in.
And in addition to these, the breaks take a position of readiness so that it should stop the car at shorter distance if necessary.
‘All Weather’ mode; in other words every weather condition mode, is mostly chosen for winter conditions and slippery surfaces.
When you choose this mode it ensures better grip and better traction even on bad road surface conditions.
But if you ask me, the mode to drive the Giulietta with most pleasure without doubt is Dynamic mode.
Let’s come to the subject of fuel consumption.
I have been driving this car for a week, in the city and on the highway for 500 km's
and the trip computer at this moment indicates 7.1-liter consumption average.
When you take it into account that I have been driving mostly on the Dynamic mode, this value is not bad at all.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta with the sportive design that separates it from its rivals, in my opinion, is a good alternative to the people who want to be particular.
Its comfortable disposition, roomy living spaces and frugal engine are among its main advantages.
But if you also have performance expectations; then it is advisable for you to think of 1.4-liter turbo charged petrol engine as well instead of 1.6-liter diesel engine.
See you…
